Managing your establishment's sections

Create and organize sections (bar, kitchen, dining room, aisles…) to structure your schedules and assign your employees.

What are sections for?

Sections let you divide your establishment into work zones: bar, kitchen and dining room for a restaurant, aisles for a shop, wards for a clinic, and so on. Once your sections are created, you can assign each shift to a section and see at a glance who is working where. Sections also feed your cost and productivity statistics by zone.

Not to be confused with points of sale: splitting into several points of sale is a separate, paid option, whereas sections are included and remain within a single establishment.

Go to Settings ⚙️ → Sections → Manage sections.

The list of sections

The table lists all your sections with, for each one:

  • ID: the section's internal identifier.
  • Name: the section's label as it appears in the schedule.
  • Color: the associated color dot, which colors this section's shifts in the grid.
  • Address: the section's address, if you have entered one (street, city, postal code, country).
  • Actions: the Assign, Edit and Delete buttons.

Two additional columns appear only if you use a social secretariat connector: AY ID (Attentia) and Update Pro ID. They link the Shyfter section to the corresponding establishment on the social secretariat side.

The search field at the top left filters the list by name.

Creating a section

Click New at the top right.

Fill in:

  • Name (mandatory): the section's label.
  • Address: optional, useful if your sections correspond to distinct physical locations.
  • Color: choose a color to instantly recognize this section's shifts in the schedule.

Confirm to create the section. It becomes available for shift creation right away.

Assigning employees to a section

The Assign button opens the list of your employees and lets you link those who work in this section.

Assigning employees to their sections then makes building the schedule easier: you get the right people suggested first for each zone.

Editing or deleting a section

  • Edit: reopens the section form to change its name, color or address.
  • Delete: removes the section. Shifts already created remain, but are no longer linked to this section.
