Attributes: creating categories and attributes
Attributes let you link locations, vehicles or clients to your shifts, and clock in at a specific location using Shyfter POS or Staff.
Why use attributes?
Attributes represent concrete elements you can link to shifts: a work site, a point of sale, a delivery vehicle, a client, an intervention location. They are especially useful for service companies (cleaning, security, temp work, multi-site horeca) that need to know which employee was where.
An attribute of type Location also lets employees clock in at that spot via Shyfter Staff or Shyfter POS.
Structure: categories then attributes
Attributes are organised on two levels:
- Category: the type of attribute (e.g. "Clients", "Work sites", "Vehicles").
- Attributes: the concrete elements within that category (e.g. "Client Dupont", "Rue de la Loi work site", "Van BE-123-456").
You first create the category, then add attributes to it.
Creating an attribute category
Go to Settings ⚙️ → Attributes → Attribute management.
Click New to create a category. Choose the type:
- Location: for addresses and intervention locations. Only this type allows geolocated clocking.
- Object: for equipment, vehicles, materials.
- Person: for clients, contacts or referents.
The type determines which fields will be available when creating attributes in this category.
Creating attributes within a category
- Click the relevant category in the list.
- Click Add to create a new attribute.
- Fill in the fields (name, address for a location, etc.).
- Save.
Repeat for each attribute you want to create.
Linking an attribute to a shift
When creating a shift in the schedule, you can select one or more attributes. The employee sees the information in Shyfter Staff and can clock in on that attribute if it is a location.
To clock in on an attribute, it must be of type Location.
