Manually editing an overtime counter

How to adjust an employee's overtime balance to correct an error or record a one-off agreement.

When to edit a counter manually?

It can happen that the automatically calculated balance does not reflect reality: an agreement made with an employee, a correction following a clocking error, or a data carryover when the module is activated. Shyfter lets you adjust the counter week by week, with traceability.

How to edit a week

  1. Go to Team → Users and open the employee's profile.
  2. Click the Counters tab.
  3. Locate the week to correct and click the green pencil icon at the end of the row.
  4. In the window that opens, enter the desired value for that week.
  5. Add a comment to explain the reason for the change (correction, agreement, etc.).
  6. Click Save.

From the following week, calculations automatically resume from the value you just saved. All subsequent balances take this new starting point into account.

Deleting a manual change

If you want to cancel an adjustment, click the trash icon next to the modified week. Shyfter then resumes the automatic calculation from the previous week's data, as if no change had been made.

Best practice: changing the contract

If you change the number of hours per week in an employee's contractual data, freeze the counter first at the week preceding the change. This preserves the history of the overtime already calculated. See the dedicated article on this subject for the complete procedure.
