Identifying the source of a clocking (mobile, tablet or manual)

Shyfter visually indicates whether a clocking was made via the mobile app, the POS tablet, or added manually by a manager.

Knowing how a clocking was made is useful for checking the reliability of the data: a mobile clocking confirms that the employee was physically on site with their phone, a tablet clocking means they used the POS terminal, and a manual clocking was entered directly by a manager in Shyfter.

This information lets you detect anomalies, avoid duplicates and ensure the compliance of your reports before exporting to payroll.

Spotting the source in the timesheet control

Go to Reports → Timesheet control.

In the table, each clocking row displays small icons that indicate whether the check-in and check-out were made from the mobile app or from the tablet. Hover your cursor over these icons to display the information as text.

When you click on a clocking row (blue or red), the detail panel opens on the right. The logos of the app used appear at the top left of the panel, letting you confirm the source of the clocking at a glance.

Spotting a manually added clocking

A clocking added manually by a manager is flagged by a blue logo on the left of the row in the table.

This icon lets you immediately distinguish clockings entered by hand from those generated automatically by the apps. This is particularly useful for:

  • Checking the reliability of the recorded hours.
  • Detecting any entry errors or duplicates.
  • Ensuring the compliance of the data before validation or export.

Finding this information in the Clockings menu

The Clockings menu displays the same source indicators. You can therefore check the source of a clocking either from the Reports menu or from the Clockings menu, depending on your usual workflow.
