Why configure real costs?

Knowing the planned cost of your team at any given moment is one of the most powerful levers for controlling your payroll. Shyfter can show the cost of each shift and the total cost of the week directly in the schedule, provided the rates are correctly configured.

Choosing the calculation basis

Go to Settings ⚙️ → HR → Real costs.

You choose the type of cost to display:

  • Gross cost: the employee's gross salary (personal contributions not deducted).
  • Net cost: the net salary after deducting the worker's contributions.
  • Company (employer) cost: the total cost borne by the employer, including employer contributions. This is the true labour cost.

Where to enter the hourly rates?

Hourly rates are filled in at two levels:

  1. Employee profile: in Team → Users → Profile → Contract data, fill in the gross hourly rate.
  2. User status: in Settings ⚙️ → General → User statuses, you can define an hourly rate per status. This rate takes precedence over the one in the individual profile if both are filled in.

For the calculation of the employer cost, you can indicate a percentage of employer charges in the real costs settings.

Viewing the costs

Once configured, the costs appear:

  • In the weekly schedule: cost per shift and total for the week.
  • In the activity reports: cost per employee, per section, per period.
  • In the Performance/Insights module: cost / revenue comparison.
