Automatically import your Odoo POS turnover into Shyfter, every day, with no manual entry at all.

In short

Once the integration is installed, Shyfter connects to your Odoo account and pulls in your turnover automatically:

  • Your history for the last 24 months is imported as soon as you install it.
  • Every morning, the previous day's turnover is added automatically.
  • Your data feeds your dashboard and your staffing forecasts, with nothing to enter by hand.

You stay in control: you choose to import turnover VAT included (Incl. VAT) or VAT excluded (Excl. VAT).

What you need

Before you start, make sure you have:

  • An Odoo account with the Point of Sale module active.
  • The rights to generate an API key in Odoo (usually an administrator account).

You will need 4 pieces of information, explained in the next step:

Step 1: Get your Odoo information

1.1 The address and database name

  • Your Odoo address is the one shown in your browser's address bar when you are logged in, for example https://my-company.odoo.com.
  • The database name is the start of that address. For https://my-company.odoo.com, the database is my-company.

1.2 Generate an API key

For security reasons, Shyfter does not connect with your password, but with an API key you generate in Odoo.

  1. Log in to Odoo.
  2. Click your profile picture in the top right, then My Profile.
  3. Open the Account Security tab.
  4. Click New API Key, give it a name (for example "Shyfter") and confirm.
  5. Copy the key shown and keep it aside: it will no longer be visible afterwards.

💡 Good to know: the API key replaces your password only for this connection. You can revoke it at any time from Odoo.

Step 2: Install the integration in Shyfter

  1. In Shyfter, open Settings > Integrations, the Productivity tab, and select Odoo.
  2. Click Install.
  3. In the Connect Odoo window, fill in the form:
  • Your Odoo address
  • Database name
  • Login email
  • API key (the one copied in step 1.2)
  • Amount to import: choose Incl. VAT or Excl. VAT
  1. Confirm to start the connection.

Shyfter checks the connection to Odoo right away. If everything is correct, the integration installs and the message "Odoo was installed successfully!" appears. Otherwise, a clear message tells you what to fix (see the "Troubleshooting" section).

✅ As soon as it is installed, Shyfter automatically imports your turnover for the last 24 months. The history is processed month by month: depending on the volume, this can take a few minutes.

What happens after installation?

  • History import: turnover for the last 24 months is retrieved and spread day by day.
  • Daily import: every morning, the previous day's turnover is added automatically.
  • No action is required from you day to day.

The imported amount respects your Incl. VAT / Excl. VAT choice.

Where to find your turnover

Go to Settings > Performance > Forecast base to view your imported amounts, day by day. You can move from one month to another at the top of the page.

Import a month immediately

If you don't want to wait for the next day's automatic import, use the Import displayed month button (refresh icon), at the top right of the Forecast base page. This button only appears when a POS is connected.

You are asked to confirm: the turnover for the displayed month (up to today) is retrieved from your POS and existing values are updated. The button is disabled for future months.

Change the configuration

You can change the integration settings at any time:

  1. Open the Odoo card in Settings > Integrations.
  2. Click Configure.
  3. The fields are already pre-filled with your current information (address, database, email and Incl. VAT / Excl. VAT choice).
  4. Change what you want, for example the Amount to import.
  5. Click Save. The message "Configuration updated successfully." confirms the change.

🔒 For your security, the API key is not shown again. You do not need to re-enter it to change your settings: your existing key is kept. Only entering a new key re-validates the connection.

💡 The Incl. VAT / Excl. VAT setting is shared with the "Import turnover excluding VAT" option in your performance settings. Changing it here updates that setting for your location.

Incl. VAT or Excl. VAT: which to choose?

  • Incl. VAT: the imported amount includes VAT. This is what your POS actually collects.
  • Excl. VAT: the imported amount excludes VAT. Handy if you steer your business on pre-tax amounts.

You can change this choice at any time via Configure.

Uninstall the integration

To stop the import, open the Odoo card in Settings > Integrations and click Uninstall. After confirmation, the integration is disabled and your connection data (including the API key) is deleted. The turnover already imported stays available in Shyfter, and you can reinstall the integration later.

Troubleshooting

If the connection fails, Shyfter tells you exactly what to check:

Message What to do
Cannot reach the Odoo instance. Check the URL. Check your Odoo address (copy it from your browser).
Odoo database not found. Check the database name. Fix the database name (often the start of your address).
Odoo credentials refused. Check the email and API key. Check your login email and regenerate an API key if needed.
The API key is required. Enter the API key generated in Odoo.

Frequently asked questions

Is the import automatic? Yes. After installation, Shyfter imports your turnover every morning, with no action from you.

Will I lose my history? No. The last 24 months are imported on installation, then each new day is added automatically.

Is my Odoo password stored? No. Shyfter only uses an API key, which you can revoke in Odoo at any time. Your password is never asked for or kept.

Can I switch from Incl. VAT to Excl. VAT later? Yes, via Configure. The change applies to the following imports.

How do I change my API key? Open Configure, enter the new key in the API key field and save: the connection is re-validated with the new key.
