Check-in & out at work: mandatory attendance registration in cleaning
Meet the Belgian obligation to register attendance in the cleaning sector, including for your subcontractors, directly from Shyfter.
In Belgium, registering attendance through the official Check In and Out at Work system of the NSSO is mandatory in the cleaning sector. Since 1 September 2024, anyone performing certain cleaning activities must register the start and end of their work, as well as break times. The Shyfter integration lets you meet this obligation without using a separate tool.
Who it is mandatory for
This integration is intended only for companies in the cleaning sector. The obligation covers activities whose purpose is to make a property clean on behalf of a third party (offices, common areas, windows, construction sites, roofs and facades, roads, and so on), as soon as the threshold amounts applicable to immovable works are reached.
Some situations remain out of scope, for example cleaning your own premises with your own staff, or the service-voucher system. If you are unsure about your situation, your payroll provider can confirm whether you are concerned.
How registration works
Responsibility for the registration lies both with the entity that sends someone to work and with the person carrying out the work. Everyone registers their own attendance in real time, at the place of work: the employer cannot do it in advance. There are two types of registration, "in" (at the start of the work) and "out" (at the end), and breaks must be registered too.
We also handle your subcontractors
The obligation does not only concern your employees: it also applies to the self-employed, temporary workers, trainees and subcontractors present on site. Shyfter lets you handle the registration of these external providers in addition to your own staff, so you cover everyone working on the site.

This integration is subject to a monthly subscription, shown on its card.
The obligation to register attendance in the cleaning sector is based on the Belgian programme law of 26 December 2022. If you have any doubt about its scope or your thresholds, get in touch with your payroll provider or Shyfter support.
