Configuring Shyfter notifications
Each user can choose exactly which alerts to receive and through which channel: email, push notification on the app, browser notification or SMS (paid).
Why customise notifications?
Shyfter sends alerts for many events: new shift, leave request, missing clocking, contract to sign, expired Dimona, etc. Without configuration, everyone receives everything, which often creates unnecessary noise. The customisable notification system lets each person (user, manager or administrator) choose what reaches them and how.
How to access the notification settings
- Go to Team → Users and open the profile of the employee concerned.
- Click the Profile → Notifications tab.
- Choose the channels to use (see below).
- Enable or disable each type of alert as needed.
The available channels
For each type of alert, you choose which channel to receive it through. Shyfter offers four:
- Email: the alert arrives in the employee's mailbox.
- Push notification on the app: a notification pushed to the Shyfter Staff mobile app (the employee must have installed the app and allowed notifications).
- Browser notification: a web notification, displayed by the browser when the person is logged in to Shyfter on a computer.
- SMS: a text message sent directly to the phone. This is a paid channel, billed at €0.15 per SMS sent. Reserve it for truly critical alerts to control the cost.
These channels can be combined: you can, for example, receive new shifts by mobile push and keep SMS only for an urgent clocking reminder.
The eight notification categories
1. Schedules
Alerts related to shifts: new shift published, shift deleted, modification request, processing of a request.
2. Shift Market
Alerts about free shifts: availability of a shift, new application, withdrawal of an application, result of a request.
3. Shift Swap
Complete tracking of swaps: new swap request, transfer, acceptance or refusal by a colleague or a manager.
4. Leave and absences
Alerts for managers (new request received) and for employees (request created, request accepted or refused).
5. Clocking
Alerts in case of a missing clock-in or clock-out, a free clocking (with no scheduled shift) or reminders before the start and end of a shift.
For some of these alerts (no clocking, no check-out, check-out reminder, forgotten check-out), you can set a precise delay: for example, receive a notification 15 minutes after the end of the shift if no clock-out has been recorded.
6. Documents
12 types of alerts: new contract, signed contract, unsigned contract, contract approaching expiration, expired contract, new document, signed document, unsigned document, etc. For reminder alerts (non-signature, expiration), you define the number of days and the time of sending.
7. Dimona
Notifications specific to the Dimona declaration: Dimona approaching expiration, expired Dimona, processing error, processing confirmation, daily report. You configure the number of days before expiration from which the alert is sent.
8. Reports
Alerts when the various reports are generated and available: attendance sheets, activity reports, absence reports, HR exports.
Practical tips
- Configure notifications per person: a schedule manager does not have the same needs as an HR manager.
- Disable the channels you do not need (e.g. web push if you work mainly from the mobile app).
- Use clocking alerts with a delay to avoid forgotten check-outs without being flooded with real-time notifications.
