An employee's notifications

Every employee can receive notifications when a shift is published, a request is processed, a message arrives, and so on. Rather than a single setting for everyone, Shyfter lets you adjust these alerts individually. This is useful, for example, so that an employee without a smartphone receives their schedules by email, or to limit SMS to certain people only.

This setting is found in the employee's profile, under Profile → Notifications. It depends on the notifications module: if the tab does not appear, it is because the module is not enabled on the account.

The available channels

A notification can be sent over four channels:

• Email: a message in the employee's mailbox.
• Mobile notification (push): an alert on the Shyfter Staff app.
• SMS: a text message, particularly suited to employees who do not use the app.
• Notification centre: the alert remains available within Shyfter, via the bell icon.

You enable or disable each channel independently, for each type of event.

The notification groups

Alerts are grouped by theme (schedules, requests, messages, etc.). For each group, you decide which channels are active. Some groups also let you set a send time, to receive a summary notification at a specific time of day rather than continuously.

To change an employee's notifications:

1. Open their profile, then Profile → Notifications.
2. For each group, enable or disable the desired channels using the toggles.
3. If a send time is offered and suits you, adjust it.
4. Save.

Enabling the SMS channel requires a confirmation, because sending SMS is billed. Shyfter reminds you of this point before you confirm your choice.

To set the notifications of several employees at once, use the bulk notification manager instead, accessible from the team settings.
