Mobile clocking: Shyfter Staff settings

Set up clocking from the mobile app: authorisation, GPS geolocation, QR code scan, mandatory comment and history.

What this screen is for

This screen sets what your employees can do to clock from the Shyfter Staff mobile app. It is useful for field teams, sites without a fixed tablet, or mobile work.

Go to Settings ⚙️ → Clocking → Shyfter Staff.

Available options

  • Allow users to clock via the mobile app: gives the ability to clock in, clock out and take breaks from Shyfter Staff. This is the main switch of this screen; the other options depend on it.
  • Enable GPS geolocation at clocking: at each clocking action, break or scan via the app, Shyfter records the employee's GPS position. This requires the user to have allowed location on their smartphone.
  • Enable QR code scanning: your employees can scan a QR code from the app to clock.
  • Require QR code scan: makes the scan mandatory; without scanning the QR code, the employee cannot clock. Handy to guarantee a physical presence at the workplace.
  • Allow offline clocking: your employees can clock even without an internet connection. The clockings are only recorded once the connection is restored. Useful on sites where the network is unstable.
  • Make the comment mandatory: the employee must leave a comment at the end of their clocking.
  • Hide clocking history for employees: when enabled, employees only see their clocking history from the current month onwards.

Don't forget to save.

The geolocation recorded here can be cross-referenced with the Show an icon if a clocking is made outside the company perimeter option (in Settings ⚙️ → Clocking → Settings), which flags in the timesheets the clockings made outside the zone.
