Shift modification requests
Your team members can propose an adjustment to their schedule from the mobile app. You handle these requests from the dedicated sub-menu.
Modification requests let your team members propose a change to one of their scheduled shifts: start time, end time, or another adjustment. It's a way to give them a voice in schedule management while keeping control: a request is not an automatic change, it must be accepted by a manager.
How team members make a request
Team members can only submit modification requests via the Shyfter Staff mobile app. They select the relevant shift and propose the desired change with an optional comment.
A shift awaiting a decision is displayed in sky blue in your schedule: it's the visual signal that a request is in progress for that slot.
Handle the requests
Go to Schedules → Modification requests.
The list shows each request with: the team member's Name, the Shift date (with its section), the Shift time, the request Type (for example Cancellation), the Request status (Request approved, refused, transferred, or pending) and the Request date. At the top right, a status filter ("All" by default) and a search help you find a request. The icon at the end of the row opens the request detail.
From the detail, for each request, you can:
- Accept: the change is applied to the shift. The team member is notified.
- Refuse: the shift stays unchanged. The team member is notified of the refusal.
- Transfer: if the decision belongs to another manager, you can transfer the request to them.
Configure modification requests
The feature must first be enabled. Go to Settings ⚙️ → Schedules → Settings:
- Enable modification requests: the toggle that allows your team members to request changes to their shifts from the mobile app. As long as it is disabled, no request is possible.
- Request deadline: once the option is enabled, a field appears to answer the question "How many days after the shift's creation can the user still request modifications?". You enter a number of days there. This deadline is counted from the shift's creation: after this number of days, the team member can no longer submit a request on that shift. It's the way to avoid last-minute requests on already old slots.
Don't forget to Save after making changes.
