Comments on shifts and days

Add notes visible in the schedule, on an individual slot or on a whole day, to keep your team informed.

Comments let you annotate the schedule directly, without leaving Shyfter. A message on a shift to specify a particular instruction, or a comment on a day to warn of a special service setup: it's a simple, quick way to communicate with your team.

Enable comments in shifts

Before you can use comments, make sure the option is enabled.

Go to Settings → Schedules → Settings and turn on the option Show comments in shifts. Once the option is active, the comments you add to shifts become visible directly in the schedule (in addition to being available in the Shyfter Staff app).

Add a comment to a shift

Click the relevant shift in Schedules → Schedule management. In the side panel, fill in the Comment (or Note) field.

Save. The comment is displayed in the shift tile if the option is enabled in your settings.

The comment isn't confined to the schedule: it is also shown at clock-in time (on the clocking screen, for example on the Shyfter POS tablet) and on the Shyfter Staff mobile app, when the team member views their schedule or clocks their shift. It's therefore a good way to surface an instruction at the right time, right where the team member needs it.

Add a comment to a day

Day comments let you inform the whole team of a shared piece of information for a specific date: special event, early closing, mandatory meeting before the service, etc.

  1. Go to Schedules → Schedule management, in Week or Monthly view.
  2. Click the date at the top of the column (the day number).
  3. A field appears to enter your day comment.
  4. Save.

The comment is displayed at the top of the relevant day's column, visible to all managers who view the schedule.

Comment when booking a free shift

When a team member books a free shift, you can ask or allow them to add a comment to their booking. This option, configurable in the free shifts settings, gives you more context on the applications.

Shift comments are an internal communication tool. For more formal messages or exchanges with your team members, use the Conversations module or Shyfter's built-in notifications.
