What does the orange alert mean?
When you open Team → Users, you may see an orange warning icon appear next to an employee. This signal indicates that Shyfter was unable to automatically verify the NISS (Social Security Identification Number) of this person.
This verification is important: an incorrect or missing NISS can block your Dimona declarations and generate errors in your administrative procedures.
What is the NISS?
The NISS is the unique identifier assigned to each person in Belgium. It is indispensable for:
- Dimona declarations,
- managing employment contracts,
- exchanges with your payroll office.
Why can the alert appear?
Two main causes:
- The entered NISS is incorrect: a typo, a missing digit or inverted digits.
- The employee does not yet have a NISS: this is common for a foreign worker newly arrived in Belgium who is waiting for their number to be assigned.
How to fix the situation?
- Open the profile of the employee concerned.
- Check or correct the NISS in their profile data.
- If the person does not yet have a NISS, obtain it through the official administrative procedures (municipality, SPF Social Security, etc.) and enter it as soon as it is available.
Once the correct data is saved, Shyfter automatically relaunches the verification. The orange icon disappears as soon as the NISS is validated.
