Managing the Shyfter POS tablet
Change the API key, exit the app, clear the cache and solve common problems with the clocking tablet.
Exiting the app or changing account
The Shyfter POS app is deliberately locked to prevent an employee from exiting it by accident during the service. To exit it or enter a new API key, hold your finger down for at least 3 to 4 seconds in the bottom-left corner of the screen. You then reach the screen where you enter a new API key.
Entering a new API key
Changing the API key is used when you attach the tablet to another account or establishment. After holding down in the bottom-left corner, enter the new API key in place of the old one, then reinitialise the tablet. The new key is retrieved in Settings ⚙️ → Time clock → Shyfter POS.
Clearing the tablet's cache (Android)
If the app behaves unexpectedly, clearing its cache often solves the problem:
- Open the tablet's Settings app.
- Go to Storage, then to the list of apps.
- Select Shyfter POS.
- Tap Clear cache.
This operation deletes neither the API key nor your data; it only cleans the temporary files.
Allowing camera access (web version)
On the web version of the POS app, a message can block usage as long as camera access is not allowed. First check that the computer does have a camera, then allow access in the browser settings. On iPad, the app is now available in the App Store, which avoids this problem.
In case of a persistent problem
If the tablet no longer synchronises or does not display the latest data, proceed step by step: check the internet connection (stable Wi-Fi, avoid public networks with a portal), refresh the app, clear the cache, and as a last resort reinitialise the tablet with the API key. If an employee stays absent from the list, check on the web platform side that they are active and authorised to clock on this app.
