Installing the Shyfter POS clocking tablet
Download the Shyfter POS app, retrieve the account API key and initialise the clocking tablet.
What Shyfter POS is for
Shyfter POS is the tablet clocking app. Installed on a shared tablet at the entrance of the service, it lets each employee clock their arrival and departure using their personal PIN code. It is one of the clocking solutions included in your subscription, alongside mobile clocking via Shyfter Staff.
1. Download the app
On the tablet, open the Google Play Store (Android) or the App Store (Apple), search for Shyfter POS and install the app.
2. Retrieve your API key
The API key connects the tablet to your Shyfter account. From the web platform, go to Settings ⚙️ → Time clock → Shyfter POS. The API key is at the bottom of the page.
3. Initialise the tablet
- Launch the Shyfter POS app on the tablet.
- Copy the API key into the dedicated field.
- Tap Initialise the tablet.
The app is then connected to your account. This operation only needs to be done once: on the next opening, the tablet automatically returns to the clocking screen.
Which tablet to choose
Shyfter POS works on any Android or Apple tablet, regardless of the brand. A few recommendations for comfortable use:
- Avoid a screen that is too small: a 10-inch (10.1) screen is ideal so that all the information stays readable.
- The tablet must have at least a Wi-Fi connection. For outdoor use, prefer a 4G tablet.
- On Android, the minimum required version is Android 8.1 Oreo.
Favour a stable Wi-Fi network and avoid public networks with a login portal (hotels, cafes), which can block the synchronisation of clockings.
