Edit one shift or several shifts at once
Adjust a slot in its detail, or apply the same change to several shifts in one go.
Schedules are constantly evolving: an hour to shift, a section to correct, a break to adjust. Shyfter lets you edit a shift in a few seconds, and apply the same change to several shifts at once so you do not repeat the operation.
Edit a single shift
Go to Schedules → Schedule management and click the shift to edit. The "Edit shift" panel opens on the right. It contains the same fields as when creating a shift:
- An Shift information selector at the top, which groups the slot's information.
- The Shift and Absence tabs.
- Section: the attached section, with its colour.
- User: the employee concerned. Next to their name, their weekly hours balance (for example 35.5/38h) and their star rating are shown, which helps when deciding on a reassignment.
- Skills: the associated skills, which you can remove or add.
- Start and End: the shift hours.
- Paid break and Unpaid break: the break durations.
- The Shift not counted in worked hours checkbox.
- Tasks: the tasks attached to the shift.
At the bottom of the panel, three buttons: Cancel to close without changes, Delete to remove the shift, and Edit shift to save your changes.
If the shift is part of a recurring series, Shyfter asks whether the change applies to this single slot or to the whole series.
Edit several shifts at once
When the same change has to be applied to several shifts (shifting a start time, changing a section), bulk editing saves precious time.
- Select the relevant shifts by clicking them while holding Ctrl (or Cmd on Mac).
- Right-click one of the selected shifts.
- Choose Edit the X shifts.
- In the panel, fill in only the fields you want to change: only those will be updated across the whole selection, the others stay untouched.
- Confirm.
Practical tip
To act on a whole week, use the More → Select all shifts menu, then apply your bulk change.
