Preventing a manager from editing their own clockings

As an internal control measure, you can prohibit an HR or schedule manager from creating or editing their own clocking entries.

Why restrict this right?

Schedule and HR managers generally have access to editing clockings to manage those of their teams. However, allowing them to edit their own clockings can pose an internal control problem. Shyfter lets you disable this possibility person by person.

How to disable editing of one's own clockings

  1. Go to Team → Users and open the profile of the manager concerned.
  2. In the Profile → Settings tab, scroll to the appropriate section.
  3. Uncheck the option Allow editing of one's own clockings.
  4. Save.

The manager keeps all their other rights (editing their colleagues' clockings, managing the schedule, etc.) but can no longer create or edit their own clocking entries.

Good to know

  • This restriction applies both to schedule managers and to HR managers.
  • It does not affect account administrators.
  • If you need reinforced control over the clocking data, combine this setting with the clocking alerts available in the Notifications of the user profile.
